The Red Centre, Kings Canyon, Australia

So here it is! Part One of my outback adventures. Ready!?

Alice Springs. Checked. Don't-wanna-go-there-ever-again ;) (Really, just kidding!)
It is Saturday morning, 6 am. Pick up time. We are ready to rock! Kate from Adventure Tours -a gorgeous and very enthusiastic young woman who loves Jelly Beans- is kidnapping us, we are still half asleep and not sure what to expect... But really excited at the same time!!
Quick stop at the office to sort out some paperwork and that's us all on the road, a group of 20 people heading to the famous red centre of Australia.

1st stop: Camel ride at the Outback Camel farm. Why not?! When am I going to ride a camel again? So I go for it... OMG... It was so much fun!! They went crazy and start running so fast, it was really sore! But a good memory.

A few hours, toilets breaks and lunch later 2nd stop: we finally arrive at the Kings Canyon. It is impressive, big and scary! Especially when Kate tells us we are going to climb it! But not today. The climb is closed due to the very VERY hot weather conditions.. Instead we will go for a short walk to Kings Creek and discuss the dinner menu! We will go back to the camp, cook, witness a gorgeous sunset and set up our beds in order to "swag out" under the stars. Yes, sleeping under the stars in the Australian desert while starving Dingos are screaming their lives away. Check!

Sunday - Early morning again... Up at 6 am, by 7.30 we are already climbing the Kings Canyon (6 kms). The "heartbreak hill" almost killed me! -That is no joke!- It was hard but so worth it. At the top the view of the Gorge and landscapes are stunning. We stop at the Garden of Eden - the only waterhole I think - nice spot to have a rest (it was so bloody hot!). I was amazed all the way, I never saw those kind of red rocks before... Imagine my surprise when we discovered the sandstone domes...

The tour is far from being finished but, personally, I don't especially like super long post... So part 2 of my outback adventures will be up soon. Stay tuned! :)

Thanks for your lovely comments xx
